Confusion On SERP

Ok I'm confused about something and hopefully someone can explain.

I make a thread and within 24 hours its on the front page of Google. Then after 3 days or so, I look back and I search the same text and it's no longer on the front page of Google, perhaps buried even deep. Why is that? What would cause that to occur?

(( without any changes to our SEO whatsoever ))

Popularity of other sites/links?

Anyone?

Is vbseo broke?

Is it google organic search results that cause this, or are other sites with higher PR for example affecting this?

What are the possibilities of what could cause this?

Brand new pages often get listed a little higher in the index, and then begin to decline.

5 years ago I was creating new mass generated sites every month to take advantage of the boost you get in the search engines with new content.

I am doubtful it can be manipulated that easily anymore. However, it is quite likely that new content does get a short-term boost.

Maybe your threads move to page 2 ( 10 threads) -3 ( 10 threads)-4( 10 threads) and so on.

you need to have links of pages 2-3-4 accesible from main forum page
