    There's no constant.

I've made NO changes to my site, and i'm up 19% according to compete vs your 25% figure. I'm also older than you and do a LOT more traffic, so gaining 1% is a lot harder for my site simply due to volume.

So, how did i gain 19% without these meta tags?

    Could it have helped? maybe...

At the end of the day, it's good to see you're making some serious progress and kicking the competition in the exhaust

As of Today vBulletin has officially Acquired Diesel Bombers.

This wouldn't of been possible with out vbSEO

Thanks to everyone involved with this software.

Not really , been looking hard at the xenforo software but not sure what im going to do , not really passionate about anything other than diesel trucks , i built a IPB forum TRUCKpullers.com - Your Truck Pulling Resource as well and sold it to abide to the non compete for 2 years.

vb software is far Superior than ipb

I wonder why VB would be interested in such a forum....

Its nice that you brag about VBSEO, but I think vbseo may have played a small
part in the success, if you think about how many people use vbseo compared to
how many people can brag about success, you will see that number is fairly small.

I think the success of the forum was due to more of how unique it was too google...
after all, how many diesel forums do you see out there? So therefore google
loved the forum very much because of very low competition in the market.

my forum is somewhat new...doesnt look as good as your forum, but until I get
to that stage, I try to add new content/posts daily, and at least 1-2 unique articles
per week, even though I have spiders on my forum, I have yet to gain any real
spider attention like you have stated...why is that? Its simple, the market I
am in is very saturated...why would google pay attention to me when there are
much better forums google can give love too...

since there are very few diesel forums out there, of course google gave you lots
of love, and I suspect VB knew this also, so in 10-15 years, that forum will be
worth 100 fold, like WarriorForum, or DP, and when other forums get into
the diesel forum market down the road, they will have a hard time, WF and DP
started years ago, so they pretty much have the market, and googles love...
Everyone else is just chicken scratch feed...or leftovers....

I can tell you, the longer your forum remains in the market, and other
forums decide not to enter, then that will just be good for the forum...
but if 1000's of other people decided to enter the market, then your
google love would change overnight...as long as other related forums
stay out, then that will surely give the forum a stronger advantage for the future.

google loves orginal content...but they love original content that
is rarely on the internet even more, such as a diesel forum that is not market saturated....

Who would have ever thought a diesel forum would
    have interested anyone?

"VB" is probably the wrong term... Internet Brands bought it. They run 100s of sites.
    InternetBrands, Inc. : Our Brands

There's a forum for EVERYONE. niche markets that you or I may never even have heard of are thriving. everything from collectors, to cars, to cancer surivors, to people with friends/relatives in prison. you name it, it's out there. If you can get a site that fills a niche and it takes off, it's because you filled a void that existed and people were able to find you.

If you made the 10000th site in the niche, you're probably wasting your time, because you're right, you'll likely never succede. But, if you can sub-out or get a little more niche, there is a market.

not interested in running auto, prision, death, cancer forum...

and those 10,000 other sites obvious are not interested in such forums either....

Some of us like to start what we are interested in....

Since I am just wasting my time, guess I will just give up then...

no im not, and I am just giving you a hard time...I said what I said for a reason,
and its pretty much true...I see posts all the time from new forums saying something
like "i installed vbseo last month, why am i not rich yet?" or if they dont have vbseo
then they say something like "my forum has been up 3 months, how come i have no traffic"
some do not really think on what it really takes to start a forum...

    (1) start with a unique niche, google loves you, get traffic.

    (2) start something that already exists, then it could take years to get anywhere.

    (3) start a forum offering, SEO, SEO Content, SEO Mods, or something that is very useful,
then you got a good shot, because everyone dies to install the lastest SEO gadgets...again, if
you have nothing to offer at all, then getting traffic to keep coming to your
forum would be like trying get a zombie to be your best friend, please dont eat me Mr Zombie...

If anyone is like me, then they fall under #2
