Big drop in main keywords

Hi everyone, I dont know what has happened...

I finally got rid of frames on my site, and my main URL finally got to the 2nd page of google for main keywords ( top 10- 20) .... and 1st in some of the International ones.. ( top 5 in many)

Now 1 week later, my site is back to well over 500th site listed for my main keyword search result.

Why would I be put so far back when yesterday I was on Page 1 and 2? Now Im on page 50?

Any ideas what would have caused that?

Many thanks

Since when was your site on top 10 results, if it was just within last few days, wait for a long time though.

Hi there, Up until 1 week back, it was never in the top 10 results, however I made a new home page and it jumped up to first 10 results that same day.....

Its now back down over 500......

Im wondering why it dropped so far down....... it was up so high....

I was looking over at Digital Point forum, and found some info about "Supplemental results"

Here are mine

Supplemental Ratio 99.76%
  • Google has a total of 105000 pages indexed
  • 247 are in the main index
  • 104753 are in the supplemental index
Could this be the reason?

Going from top 10/20 to over 600 is worrying, is there anything I can do to get back up?

Many thanks

you have not yet answered my question properly.

1. What is the age of your site
(when did you started having vbulletin forums run on your website)

2. Since when you found your results appearing in top 10

If you're in suplimental index, you've done something wrong or have some issues to address.

without a link to your site, its hard to say anything

What other changes have you made recently? Has your site spent any time offline?

I changed the theme on the site ( color only in CSS on the VB Stock theme).. and also changed my front page from a static HTML Frames page to the new VB Advanced home page incorporating news.

The site has had no downtime at all.....

Still no recovery, and way way down on google.....

would it be because I changed my home page to VBAdvanced?

Many thanks

It's possible. Were many of the terms you have lost traffic for included as your forum category names?

Yes, its my main keyword phrase that have lost placement........ thats also included in topic names on some forums......

Im back up to 60th place now in Google....... I guess its better than 500+....... so moved up a bit, eventhough at that placement Im still getting no visits for those keywords, hopefully the moving up will continue......

It's possible that since your forum homepage moved one level under the vBA page, you lost some relevancy for that particular term. Try adding specific extra content for that term to your vBA page.

Hey Joe, the VBA page is my forum home page.......

I just changed my whole home page from a standard HTML page to a VBA page......

The new page contains much more content than the old.

Here is the old Home Page....

Here is the new home Page

www.mlptp.net

The new Home page is wholly VBAdvanced.

Edit : one thing Ive just noticed is that the new page is naming as www.mlptp.net and not My Little Pony Trading Post there on the thread...... why would that be?

Very strange. The TITLE tag is in tact. You should run your site through a HTML validater and check for errors.

You might want to get your CSS from the homepage and make that into an extra file also.

What was the term that you dropped position for?
