After 12 months and there is no improvement...

    Good Day,

I have installed VBSEO on my forum - FishingOuting for over a year now.

I have followed all the tips i could get on this forum and also advertise on google adwords.

So far after 12 months, there is no improvement from search engine listing for my forum FishingOuting

    I wonder why?

Well there are a couple of things that jump out with just a quick look. First you rewrite your printthread.php files. Why? When you do this you are 1) wasting server resources because this is something you don't want indexed and 2) your robots.txt is ineffective because /forums/printthread.php doesn't block your rewritten urls.

This means that right now the search engines are indexing all of your printthread pages, resulting in duplicate content.

How many backlinks do you have to your forum via the Google Webmaster tools section? How many backlinks to threads? Then compare this with the age of your site compared to your competitors.

VBSEO is not the end all to SEO. It is a great tool that takes care of duplicate content and urls. This allows all other SEO work you do to increase the effectiveness. You need to build relevant backlinks to your threads and forum. When you do this with VBSEO versus non VBSEO forums you increase the weight each link has since it is only to one url and one page instead of multiple.

    Hi,

I have disabled rewritting for showpost and printthread which are enabled by default on vbseo 3 gold.

Is there any more things which i need to do to avoid duplicate content on google?

    Thanks

Also I noticed that your sub forum urls show up like this:

Reel Schematics - Biggest Smallest Fishing Network

instead of having the name instead of the f24. I prefer to have the name of my sub forum in the url.

Dining and Nightlife - BrowardForums.com :: South Florida's Premier Online Community

Also, I know the "For Sale" keyword is a very popular driver especially for cars, motorcycles, and boating. Change the "Buy and Sell" to "For Sale" and don't call that forum "Others." Call it "Equipment - For Sale"
and definitely have a section just to buy and sell poles.

    Lastly,

Make your sub-forums text more descriptive rather than having none at all.
