    vBSEO meta tag rewrite ignores Google section targeting

    Hello

    We have the "Replace the 'META DESCRIPTION' Content?" option enabled in our vBSEO CP.

    We are also showing Adsense ads via the $ad_showthread_firstpost_start hook, which places them in the first post of each thread (for guests only).

    In order to encourage guests to register, we have added below the advertisement the following text:

    "You can hide this advertisement by registering."

    The text is surrounded by weight=ignore Google section targeting tags.

    You can see an example of this in action here.

    vBSEO correctly rewrites the meta description for the thread using content from the first post, but incorrectly includes the content between the section targeting tags.

    Accordingly, for the example thread given above, the meta tag is rewritten as follows:

    <meta name="description" content="You can hide this advertisement by registering . No Spam, discussion This thread is for members to post university offers, including those from UAC," />

    In my opinion vBSEO should disregard content placed between weight=ignore tags.

    Thanks.

    I am somewhat disappointed that I have not received a reply in the two months since I posted this and that it also appears to be missing from the recent 3.3.0 Gold release.

    I would appreciate it if someone could offer some other method or workaround by which vBSEO can be instructed to ignore certain portions of text.

    Even it is called within ad template code , it is displayed within the content of your post. Thats why it is not a bug. However you can use Virtual Html Display to prevent this happening. You can wrap "You can hide this advertisement by registering" text within Virtual Html Display tags. Example usage

    Code:
    <!--VBSEO_VIRTUAL_HTML-->
    You can hide this advertisement by registering
    <!--/VBSEO_VIRTUAL_HTML-->
    Sorry for the late reply , the thread must be missed.
