Usernames starting and ending with hyphens

We had a user register with the username "-mAx-". His username and his avatar works perfectly okay for guests and for other users. However, when this user is logged in he can not himself see his own avatar and when he clicks his username or avatar he is forwaded to the "max.html" file instead of the correct "-max-.html" file.

If the user posts a message he can see his avatar after posting the message, but if he reloads that thread again the avatar is gone and the link is broken and incorrectly points to "max.html" instead of "-max-.html".

Please check users with . in their names

Great. That solved the problem. We set VBSEO_REWRITE_MEMBER_MORECHARS=1 in the config_vbseo.php file and now it works for that user also. Many thanks for your blazingly fast support!
