Social bookmarking - on non-public areas

    HI there,

I'm not sure if I should report this as a bug, but I have an issue on my forum where I have certain forums which are not public, but I do display the list of threads. When the users read the threads, they are told they have to log in.

Now I see that the social bookmarking features do not appear for those forums which are really hidden (like my staff areas), but I'm guessing that the conditional test being made by VBSEO for this feature might just be something as simple as a group membership? If this is the case, then I could potentially have the situation where members are reporting threads to these sites which are not actually accessible to guests.

    Any ideas about this?

    Hello,

the only details provided via social bookmarking are the URL and thread title, so in case if titles are visible to guests, it is allowed to submit it.

Ok, but what I'm saying is that using the permission check of only titles is not ideal. It creates a situation where non-public threads may be submitted to these sites.

There are two VB permissions here. "Can View Forum" and "Can View Thread Content". I think vbseo is using the first one, but I believe it would be more correct to use the second.

After all, in some cases (like mine) Can View Forum might be set to Yes, but Can View Thread Content might be set to no. In such a case it should not be possible for registered users to submit threads to social bookmarking, because the submitted threads will not be useable.
