problem rewrite userprofiles vBSEO 3.3.0

Hey, I observed this problem after updating to 3.3.0 this afternoon:

two members, one called sugar*girl and one called sugargirl. Different ID's, different emails and registration dates.

Whenever you wanted to visit the profile of sugar*girl it would forwad you to the one of sugargirl.

The rewrite made it look like sugar-girl.

After switching off the function to rewrite memberprofiles it went back to normal (although the avatar of sugar*girl cannot be seen anymore, not sure if there is a context).

Any ideas on that? Does it makes sense to leave the memberprofile's rewrite switched off yet?
