"Go to first new post" links not working

Yes, this needs to be something that you can turn off separate of the Thread URL Rewrite. However, I figured out a solution that seems to work fine. I now rewrite the Last Post and Newest Post markers to their ORIGINAL URL.

In the custom box for Newest Post and Last Post I put:

showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=[thread_id]
showthread.php?goto=lastpost&t=[thread_id]

This restores the original URLs for these items. After doing this, I reinstated Cookie based forum marking. So far, all is well.

I've asked in the URL Rewrite forum if this is going to cause any future problems but have not received and answer yet.

Obviously, a better solution is to have the option to not rewrite these URLs.

Update on this solution to the cookie based thread marking and "new post" and "last post" icons when thread rewritting is activated.

My solution above, does seem to work fine, however, it will break the RSS output of your vBulletin forum. So if you have folks getting RSS feeds from you forum and you use my suggested change above it will break those feeds.

I'm still looking for a fix that will continue to work.

PS. The best option is the option to turn New Post and Last Post rewrites OFF and still keep thread rewrites ON.

I just installed vBSEO yesterday and I'm having the exact same problem. I've switched over to database storing and will wait and see. Have there been any developments to fix this issue?

if you will experience the issue, you can manually set the following option in config_vbseo.php file:

    define('VBSEO_NEW_LAST_POST_COOKIE',1);

Has this not been fixed in the newest version, because it appears I'm having the same problem on 3.3.0 Gold.
