    Found a Bug...

Hi all. I have a user named: "80-911SC". I also have another user named "80 911SC". When VBSEO is translating the URL into a search engine friendly URL, it's confusing these two users. See here:

Pelican Parts Technical BBS - View Profile: 80 911sc

Shows the profile for "80 911SC", when the user is really "80-911SC". VBSEO is replacing dashes with spaces in the URL to make it more friendly, but the result is confusion among the two profiles when it goes to convert it back?

If you allow ANY special characters in user names, you must use the [user_id] parameter in the member area rewrites.

    Sure,

just under the URL preset select drop down, you will find a + sign to expand the settings.

Then, simply find the instances that contain [user_name] and change them to [user_name]-[user_id] (or any other method you wish to have them display as)

I'm sorry. I must be obtuse. In the VBSEO control panel, I cannot find this information.

Are you talking the htaccess file? Please let me know in detail, I'm not very familiar with your program here.

    thx,

    Wayne

    Hello Wayne,

You will need to login to your vbseo control panel. Go to www.yoursite.com/vbseocp.php.

Login, and at the top click Forum URLs, hit the + arrow, and follow as Brian said above.

    in vbseocp.php,
Under URL rewrite settings, you have the preset drop down

click that + sign to expand the advanced settings.

    then, find
    Member's Profile URLs section heading.

Here you will see where to add the user_id rules in.
