Bug with quoted post links

One of my users who is using "Linear - Newest First" as his Thread Display Mode reported this to me. I tested it on my own forum with and without vBSEO 3.0.0 RC6, and here on vbseo.com.

Steps to reproduce this here on vbseo.com:

1. Change your Thread Display Mode to "Linear - Newest First" and Number of Posts to Show Per Page to "Use Forum Default".
2. Go to a thread with multiple pages, for example this thread.
3. Scroll down to the first post with a quote, which currently is this one.
4. Look at the -link, it says that the quoted post is on page two, when in fact it is the next (previous) post on page one.

With vBSEO and redirects disabled these links go where they should. But vBSEO seems to think that everyone is using "Linear - Oldest First"-mode and makes the links according to this.

There still seems to be problems with "Linear - Newest First" mode. Now we noticed that clicking the "Go to first new post" links at thread display or search results, takes you to the wrong page, usually to the last when the first unread is on page one. On threads with three pages it usually takes you to page 2 (first unread still on page 1) but sometimes to page 3. I reproduced this on vbseo.com too, but of course it depends on what you still have unread. Without vBSEO it seems to work fine (ran out of threads to test ).

Also here on vbseo.com some threads which had new posts, the link went correctly to page 1 which had the first unread but the post number after # was for a post on another page. Confusing...

BTW, I'm using RC8d on my forum.

I set VBSEO_NEW_LAST_POST_COOKIE to 1, deleted all my cookies (just to make sure they didn't interfere), and now the links still take you to the wrong page but it marks the thread as read even when I didn't even see (and read) the new posts (which is obviously even more wrong, previously it correctly did not mark them as read when I didn't see the new posts). I set VBSEO_NEW_LAST_POST_COOKIE back to 0 and now the links still take me to the wrong page but at least it does not make the posts read.

Also I still see this same problem with vbseo.com when I change my settings to "Linear Newest First" mode. "Linear Oldest First" mode seems to work fine on both vbseo.com and my own forum, which makes me think there are still bugs with the more rarely used Newest First mode.

(And now when I read Keith's reply on that thread again, I see that it is for the cookie marking method. I'm using the most intelligent one, "Database (automatic forum marking)".)
