    archive with php as cgi

How you have done things with php as cgi as been excellant - in my case where I transitioned from php as apache on one host to another being as cgi.
    - ie you enabled the archive url's to stay the same.

However, where people have always had apache as cgi, and had the archive including query strings in the url, there should be the option for those url's to remain - or is there that option. I have just tried and not suceeded in trying to change the archive urls to their query string versions.

Wow Michael - I just formally tagged you as more OCD-ish than me!

I would expect that a new vBSEO user (with the goal of achieving better SEO for their forums) would be willing to make the change. The temporary fluctuations in the SERPs will be a minor short term cost, for significant medium and long term benefit.

However, the old query string format for vB archive URLs will be handled by a 301 redirect to the new format. Example:

    HTML Code:
    http://www.vbseo.com/archive/index.php?f-3.html
    will be redirected to
    HTML Code:
    http://www.vbseo.com/sitemap/f-3.html

    Wink

I totally expect people to change to the new format. However, in your current style of flexibility, it is good for people to have the option - yes, that is definately OCD-ish. Just had to Google to find out what that was.

Programmers have to be OCD-ish as the moment they say "she'll be right", they get caught up. Often the exploration of the farfetched leads you to find the essential things you had not yet discovered.

Great to hear that the cgi format has the redirects handled.
