Alt text not showing/Title tags added?

Hello all!

I have just noticed an odd thing when viewing my forum with Firefox .. images that should have alt text (specifically - postbit icons) have both alt text and a title tag. *edit* The title tag is not in the template.

What is really concerning is that none of these images have a mouseover alt text popup any more.

Using firefox, mouseover the icons next to my nick (there will be at least 2 - profile pic and online status .. the birthday icon will show if its October 16 where you are ) .. they all have alt text in IE, but nothing shows in Firefox.

I see the popup alt text at your forums in my Firefox.. make sure that you have "Popup ALT Attribute" extension installed.

Oh... it's a limitation of Firefox then? :(

Shows how often I have to mouseover on my icons to see what they are.

(Cos it was my birthday and I have the Birthday icon plugin and hadnt seen that icon next to my name before. )

I don't have any fancy extensions installed and my firefox shows the alt text on mouseover.

roscoe36, Firefox shows "title" attribute content by default, which is valid HTML for image description. However, many sites still use "alt" attribute for this and the extension is required to see it.

I'm in Firefox now, without an alt attribute extension and your avatar is showing ALT text on mouseover.

Viewing source, there is no title tag.

I do have the web developer extension toolbar but it is disabled.

vB has a feature that allows to copy an existing "alt" attributes to "title" attribute using javascript. It is included in vbulletin_global.js file, vBulletin_init() function. So, html source contains alt only, while the browser can access both alt and title.
You can check other websites to ensure that FF doesn't display ALTs
