    Remove breadcrumb

    Breadcrumbs at the foot of a forum thread simply lead to error messages - remove these by going to the SHOWTHREAD template, and removing the following code:

    <div class="smallfont" align="center">
    <strong>&laquo;</strong>
    <a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]t=$threadid&amp;goto=nextoldest">$vbphrase[prev_thread]</a>
    |
    <a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]t=$threadid&amp;goto=nextnewest">$vbphrase[next_thread]</a>
    <strong>&raquo;</strong>
    </div>
    One that vbSEO could take advantage of as well.

    Re: Remove breadcrumb

    Well, they don't lead to any errors here on vbseo forums. And they work on my forums as well. The only limitation is of course if there is no newer thread, and you click "Next Thread".

    Re: Remove breadcrumb

    All I get with "Previous Thread | Next Thread" is:

    There are no threads newer than the previous one. Click the back button in your browser to return to it.
    and similar.

    A waste of a link to anywhere, hence why good to remove (they were good to remove without mod_rewrite, simply to try to minimise duplciate content issues).

    I don't even get the Next Thread link if there is no next thread...

    ie: There are no problems with it for me whatsoever.

    Odd, that - in Firefox I can see it on the vbSEO site replete with dead link - just above the QuickReply box. No one else see that??

    Re: Remove breadcrumb

    Do you mean a "There are no threads newer than the previous one." message? If so, it is not a dead link, but a vB feature

    Re: Remove breadcrumb

    These links are likely to be seldom used, but they function as designed. If you are in the newest thread, you cannot therefore go to the next newest thread, right?

    I saw some way to make the links have the Thread Titles instead of generic links, which actually would probably be a good thing? Maybe?

    Correct, but I'd keep them anyway since internal linking is something that SEs look at when ranking pages.
