[HOW-TO] Remove "Powered by vBulletin" from Your Page Titles

This is a discussion on [HOW-TO] Remove "Powered by vBulletin" from Your Page Titles within the Template Modifications forums, part of the vBulletin SEO Discussion category; No phrase found in 3.8.1 with vbSEO 3.2.0. I'm guessing this was changed in 3.8.1?...

If you REALLY want to rank well for a phrase, then don't bother so much about whether or not you have "vBulletin" in the title, rather concern yourself about:
    • whether you have search phrases that people are looking for on the search engines - Search Phrase Selection
    • then actually include those words in the title
    • then actually include those words in the meta description twice within 156 characters
    • then have an h1 with those words
    • then immediately following, have an intro paragraph with those words in it again
    • All the time thinking of SALES SALES SALES - what are the best words to get people to click through on your listing.
The words "vBulletin" are not going to "dilute" your search phrase, rather leave you less room to put your own. In itself, the word "vBulletin" does no harm.

If you are considering "theming", then the more important effect to consider is how adsense gets its theme for adverts. In this case, and only this case, it is important to remove teh "vBulletin" from the title, and possible change the footer mention of vBulletin to "v B u l l e t i n" - making it a little harder for Google to see the word. And make sure that you dont have teh word anywhere on yor page. Then you can more easily avoid vBulletin ads on your page.

The adsense perspective is the only issue for which the word "vBulletin" needs to be removed. Nothing to do with the generic search results for your own particular phrase.

In fact, there are a good number of people searching for "topic vbulletin", and you might as well seo specifically for that. yet another GOOD search phrase.

The most important part of SEO is the synergy between the title, meta description, h1 and opening paragraph - that is what should have been in the newsletter, not red herrings about "vBulletin".

See my sig for details of how you can really get extra traffic.
How do I have a h1 tag in vbulletin? With also intro text? Would this be done in the header or something?

I Guess Opinions are welcomed, as I was just wondering if by removing the powered by will improve my ranking, I would think it would make it better by saying that we have the Best forum software on the market running.

I Believe in giving credit were credit is do, I just hope some day there will not be a upgrade every 6 months as I feel like I am paying for someone new porch

w00t, it worked. Now Bismika Allahuma Discussion Forum doesn't have that "Powered by" notice anymore. Thanks for the great tip!

    Can't find this:

In Phrase Manager, search for this phrase variable: x_powered_by_vbulletin

    Please advise.

    Thanks!

Did you make sure to search for the variable name?

What if you just search for powered?

    1. Go to the Admin control Panel
    2. On the left hand side you will see a section called "Languages & Phrases"
    3. In there click on "Search in Phrases"
    4. In the box at the top, paste in this: x_powered_by_vbulletin
    5. Click on the circle that says "Phrase Variable Name Only"
    6. On the next screen at the top you will see this phrase with an edit button to the right. click on the edit button for each one and in the large box at the bottom type in: {1}
    7. Hit SAVE and then repeat for other phrases.

That is how you write a tutorial.
    Hello
Thanks a lot for detailed "manual".

I would recommend against that, as it breaks long tail.
