You'll want to click on the "click here" link under the "Enable Guest Message" part of the Welcome Headers option, and paste the above code from your HTML editor in there.

He forgot to mention you actually need to install the Welcome Headers plugin before any of this can work.

You need the Welcome Headers hack by Ted S installed. It's on vbulletin.org.

Thanks for the tutorial, but do you have any advice for making the text look so natural? When I tried this in photoshop my text looks thick and chunky and it's obvious that it's a graphic. But yours is indistinguishable from the rest of the text on the page.

I've tried different fonts and sizes, but nothing looks right.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

P.S. The links in your welcome header don't seem to work.

    Welcome Header Messages

The version of Welcome Header Messages that I downloaded has an option to limit welcome headers to show only once per visit. The option is called: Enable One-View Welcome Headers

But that uses a cookie, and search engine spiders don't accept cookies, so they will always get the message.

Yep, forgot about that. You could always use a conditional for guests if you wanted to mod the template but I do like the image idea.

just choose the same font and font size you have on your forum, then it should look fine

Btw the best way to do this is to get the default welcome message enabled then view it in your forum. Resize your browser to the size you want and take a screenshot. I made mine the right size too be aligned with a large Adsense rectangle. It looks fantastic, what you think?
