Disable signature for guests?

Regarding VB4, how do I disable signatures from appearing to guests?

Why would anyone want to disable the signature?

Some forums allow users to have huge signatures with outbound links, etc to other sites and other content that does not value your site.
Hiding stuff from guests also hide it from search engines.

Instead of googlebot foillowing links off-site, they will stay on your site.

But is it possible to only disable this for search engines ?

I have also seen a mod where one needs to click a button to see the signature.

Anything is possible.... but showing things to humans that you don't show to bots is considered cloaking, and will likely get you banned from google entirely.

there are many hacks that do this @ vb.org ...

I would suggest disable it to visitors and show it only to members but don't hide it from search engines only, if you hide it from search engines only you will make different between the content on the visitors pages and bots pages which against Google rules and that's maybe a reason of banning your site as Brian said.

We don't check every published modification on vb.org . If you think the modification is good for you , you should first test it on a test board and after that decide what to do with it.

my freind runs with this mod.

i know Mert, but i'm wondering about this product, maybe if install it i could have troubles with google or not?

I cannot see you having troubles with it as long as you do not cloak.
