It isnt neccessary to use for all your images, but helps make them load faster.
When will the update of vB SEO be released then?

You might want to remove any references to 'clear.gif' from the results..

clear.gif should be in your forums directory, so it won't get picked up by this.

There has been some recent discussion on this subject, so I thought I would bump this tool back to the top.

    Image Size Attributes Question

I wanted to update my Image Size Attributes in the control panel, so I ran the script, get_image_sizes.php. I had forgotten the instructions on how to use it, but figured it would do its thing if I just directed my browser to it. I realized I might have made a mistake when I saw the current list in my vBSEO CP didn't contain any of my images stored in my domain root image directories. I have a lot of images there that I use throughout the site too, including on the forum.

So, I am assuming that the image size attributes will be all screwed up if I run the script from the domain root instead of the forum root. Is that right? I sure would like to add all the image sizes from my other directories if possible.

In the mean time, I moved the script to the forum root, ran the script and updated the CP list. All is well, but I would like to add the other images. How?

    Thanks for any guidance,

    Jim

Merged your thread with this one, since it's not part of vBSEO, but a small tool that I wrote.

It should be ran from your forum images directory. Oleg can confirm, but I don't know if vBSEO will support image urls long enough to handle it if you run this from the root of your site.

Also, adding a large number of images can make a noticeable difference in performance, so use caution.

Okay, thanks, Keith. I didn't know there would be a performance hit. I thought just the opposite because of this:

It also said it would benefit SEO.

Would it be to my advantage to delete from the list all the images in the member attachments directory? Anything else that might not be as beneficial as it could be?

Yes, it will speed up rendering on the user side, but it will cause more CPU load on your server to process and add all those image sizes to each page as it's processed.

I would keep it down to the bare minimum. Basically, all the standard vBulletin images/buttons/etc.

You definately don't want all user attachments in there!
