Stopped working after upgrade to VB 4.1.6

Apparently just the mobile style was changed. However I now can't login livestats from the forum after upgrading from 4.1.5 PL2 (or 1 - I forget now there has been so many updates) to 4.1.6.

    Anybody else experiencing this?

Should I open a ticket for this?

4.1.6 is still in beta. We cannot support anything but final releases of vb.

4.1.6 BETA 1 is in BETA, 4.1.6 isn't is it?

If so, they need to clear up these differing threads!!!

    https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...e-for-download <- 4.1.6 BETA 1
    https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...e-for-download <- 4.1.6

I did download a 4.1.6 that didn't say BETA anywhere in it.
And in the thread, it does NOT say BETA. In the BETA thread it does.

    What's going on there then?

    Another VB fook up?

Pee's me right off since IB took over. Can't wait for a competitor to take their place.

vbulletin.com is still running 4.1.6 beta 1, according to the footer at least.

I'll flag this for Mert to investigate and perhaps update our own boards to 4.1.6.

Looking at the threads again. They released 4.1.6 BETA 1 on the 9th. Then 4.1.6 yesterday.

I'd assume this is a communication error between you guys then? (Almost definitely VB's fault mind?)

That said - both updates were for the mobile style only. It's 4.1.7 that they are fixing more bugs (and no doubt causing just as many others) with the core system.

For your records - I have first tried re-uploading your XML. Then uninstalled it, and re-uploaded it. Neither worked.

I'm now trying to find what files have changed to replace them with the old 4.1.whatever the fook I had beforehand to get your livestats working again. If I find out what's going on, I'll report back.

Only if Steve Machol was still around haha (joke!)

Just a quickie though - is that the usual rule of thumb? If VB.com have a version in their footer, then that is the supported version across related partners (or whatever you're classed as)?

P.S. - Checkout my footer - Amarok Forum | VW Amarok | International and Australian Amarok | Aus Amarok Forum | 4x4 Amarok | Volkswagen Amarok Startline, Trendline, Highline

    4.1.6 only.

My guess is they rushed the full release out to fix some issues in BETA that they had caused. Normally the way they work isn't it?

vB does not communicate with us in any special way or ahead of everyone else watching the annoucement forum. We do not get any special access, so if something is released and there are incompatibility features, it may be a few days before our developers can fix it post release.

In general, we keep vbseo.com as up to date as possible with vb's releases, and I would suggest using OUR footer version as the latest officially supported version that vbseo will run on, unless otherwise specified. Mert will likely update our forums to 4.1.6 in the next few days.

Righteo. So we really need to not update our VB's as fast as we can then (perhaps that's just me? - but there are some security fixes often, well, a lot of the time, and that's priority surely?) as there is a chance it could one day mess up our rankings quite badly...?

I didn't know that though. Why haven't they got a developers section to prevent this sort of thing? Isn't that the norm'?

    Hello ,

There is no announcement on vBulletin.com regarding the 4.1.6 Gold release. Therefor there is nothing much we can say , the version you are using maybe a special version designed for a special group or people. Additionally they are still running Beta on vB.com forums

    Hi Mert,

Not sure what you mean to be honest.

So I have a special version designed for a special group of people?

And perhaps it should be made clear in your announcement that this special version that isn't marked as BETA still in fact is BETA so don't download it and use it if you want support, maybe?

Well why did you announce 4.1.6 BETA 1 - and then days later announce the release of 4.1.6 (with no mention of BETA)?

I ignored the BETA as I know you don't support those.

And I downloaded the 4.1.6 as soon as I spotted that. Though to be fair I have a couple of modifications inc VBSEO so you don't support my forums at all. I wish I could get a reduction in costs for that as I never use you for support as a result of your 'rules'.

So have you made an announcement error there? How do I downgrade now then?

Should I open a support ticket at VB for this now then?

"WE" didn't announce anything. We are not vb and are not related to them at all. We are a separate company who makes modifications for vBulletin. Our announcement forum: Announcements & Pre-Sales - vBSEO Announcements at vBSEO.com

    Ahhh - So sorry!

I thought when the first vbseo lads said to wait for "mert" that he was vb staff, and I never even noticed his avatar etc - that lead me to think you were vb too!

Sorry once again. My gripe is with vb not you. I'll go moan on there, I soooo thought you were vb (as in vb staff that post on here) that's why I've been wasting time here!

Note to others though. The fix from 4.1.4 to 4.1.5 that fixed the 'host image file remotely' in threads, is now broken again in 4.1.6 (the one NOT marked BETA too).

So I'd seriously wait until they have released the next stable (and supported) version, and then wait longer (or test A LOT) to see what's broke in it to see whether it's worth you swapping your current problems for other ones. Sort of thing.

No, no vB staff post here to the best of my knowledge. Mert is our vbseo webmaster and turkish support agent.
