    vBulletin Suite vs. vBulletin

This is correct. Blog, Project Tools and CMS will not be distributed as separate products, but will be bundled with the vBulletin Suite.

In answer to some of the questions about this...

Why will these components only be available as part of the Suite?

There are two reasons for this change. The first is that with so many separate components, keeping them synchronized was unnecessarily inefficient from a coding standpoint. There's just too much engineering overhead to maintain them all on separate development tracks. And since we want to be able to develop quickly and get releases out to you more frequently, we made the decision to keep all components in sync as part of a single code base.

The second reason is that it provides much greater opportunities for tighter integration between the products, such as the ability to convert blog posts (or forum posts) to articles, to have forum discussions attached to CMS content, etc.

The whole idea is to make vBulletin better, faster, and these changes will help us develop new features more quickly. They will also help as we dive into the deeper round of rearchitecture with 4.1 and 4.2.

Does that mean I'll be running lots of extra code?

No. vBulletin runs only the code it needs for any given page load, so if you're not using a component, its code won't run and it won't impact the performance of the application.

Can I turn off components I don't want to use?

Yep, just turn them off from the Admin CP, and they'll be disabled.

As long as i can disable these , i won't have any problem with purchasing the suite because the following is a great feature : such as the ability to convert blog posts (or forum posts) to articles, to have forum discussions attached to CMS content, etc

Not really kept up, have they discussed prices yet? I have vB & Blogs. Does that mean I get the suite automatically?

I believe they will offer a bigger discount if you already own some of the addons.

I'm very interested in that CMS. I think it's a wise decision to bundle these products. It keeps things simple.

That's crap - I don't want the CMS or Tool addon... do you reckon this means I will be forced to upgrade?

You will of course be able to use the old version, but I'm pretty sure you will need to upgrade to suite if you want the upgrades for blog.

But what I've heared is that we will not be forced to pay for a yearly fee, but instead we'll need to pay for a version, so V4 comes out: you pay 39 for example, and you get all upgrades for that series without paying extra. Then V5 comes out and you pay one fee for all upgrades etc..

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I heared.

its just another reason for them to increase the price... as i doubt it will stay at 160... poor people who have blogs etc etc and normal vbulletin, lol...

the paying of per version seems abit annoying/silly/waste of our time/money and effort.. vb will rush to get to v5 v6 just to get more money.....

You are now looking at it from a very negative perspective...

We are paying per version for Windows, OS X, etc. Would you rather pay for those on a yearly basis even if there is no new version but just some security patches?

Again: anything can be seen as bad or good at this point, we just have to wait what the future brings.

I believe IB will think about this suggestion.
    vBulletin Community Forum

Most of the customers are ok with that and it considers IB's concerns on managing multiple products.

Btw. Will vBSEO be supporting vBSuite? I'm planning to get the CMS for some articles.
