Rolling out Paul's modifications to vBulletin and recalling it as 4.2.0 Amazing strategy

Why would they want to further develop 4 unless they could do it with quick already made/proven modificaitons? I regret upgrading to 4.2, I hate the activity stream and I had to hack the code to remove the stupid redirect vbulletin does when it hits the index.php page. They use a HTTP 303 redirect to redirect to forum.php or activity.php (set in navigation manager), killing all my pagerank that I pushed to my forum homepage.

When you hacked index.php, did you comment out the vb_redirect line?

Yup that's right Ace. I was looking to see if I could override this with a plugin, but because it's a PHP constant I cannot unset it or change the value once it's defined. Hopefully they add an option for this in the next release.

So.. you want it to be www.domain.com rather than www.domain.com/content/ ?

What is it now? What do you want it to be? I think we can do it.

I want to keep it at www.domain.com, as of 4.2.0 vbulletin will do a 303 HTTP redirect from www.domain.com to either www.domain.com/forum.php or www.domain.com/activity.php.

I was looking to put something in global_start or global_setup_complete hooks, but it seems impossible to overwrite that constant without using something like runkit (PHP: runkit_constant_remove - Manual) but it's a pecl extension and not everyone will have it.

On the plus side though, I can't see any bugs with vbseo 3.6.0 and vbulletin 4.2.0

Comment define('VB_REDIRECT', true); out, then make sure the last require line is content.php rather than forum.php.

That should mimic <4.2.0 behaviour.

Yea, I did that. Just trying to do it so when I update the forum I don't have to go and re-edit the file.
