I think there is a bit of confusion surrounding the release of Zoints
SEO.
1. Does Zoints do a few things better than
vbSEO? Yes. It has a couple pretty cool features
vBSEO doesn't. The archive navigation is one. Frankly,
vbSEO is more than welcome to take a look at that code and incorporate it into
vBSEO and
vBSEO Lite. All I care about is forum owners having what they need at their disposal.
2. Does
vBSEO do a few things better than Zoints
SEO? No. It does a lot of things better than Zoints
SEO.
vBSEO is a fantastic product. I'm considering installing it on MY forums and recommending it to people I know.
WHY did we release it then? I tell you what, it was one of the hardest decisions i've made in a LONG time. I didn't want to release it because:
- Zoints is not an
SEO company. We did not want to support this product. To support an
SEO product, you have to be active in the
SEO arena. During the development of Zoints
SEO I was. That stopped around one year ago.
- I have no desire to compete with
vBSEO. I like the guys here at
vBSEO a lot and if i'm going to compete with a company, i'm going to ensure that I do it with a better product. Not a product that is pretty good but only utilized because it is free. I believe in providing the best.
- If we were unable to strike any deal, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night sitting on the Zoints
SEO script when people were using other free scripts. All I personally care about is empowering forum owners, so it just wouldn't be right for me to bury the script.
The resolution was to release Zoints
SEO as an open source script. Considering a grand total of nobody has worked to improve the script and I, myself, will likely be recommending
vBSEO over Zoints
SEO, I think it's safe to say
vBSEO doesn't have much to worry about
