Zoints SEO

Zoints SEO - vBulletin.org Forum

They released it open source to the community.

however I wouldnt go for a product that is not supported, and im sure vbseo has many awesome features that zoints wont have, but this statement here got me thinking.

Quote:
Q. Is Zoints SEO better than vBSEO?

A. The folks over at vBSEO are pretty darn smart people who have developed what has turned into an excellent product. If you're looking for a quality SUPPORTED solution, you should look over there. Zoints SEO does some things better than vBSEO and vBSEO does many things better than Zoints SEO. Each product has its advantages. It really depends what you're looking for in a product.
Anyone have an idea what those good features that zoints has that vbseo hasn't? maybe vbseo should have them too

I am still checking the websites they showed as demos. First thing i must say is Zoints did a great job by releasing a free seo hack at vb.org under lgpl licenses but the approach they show by supporting only Zoints enabled boards is totally unacceptable for me.

After my checkings the hack needs a lot of more work to do. Currently moe then one url points to threads and that is a negative thing as they didn't solve duplicate content at all.
Also most forums still have session id at the end of each url and that is not good also.

Other features are good i cannot say otherwise . Currently noone can comment if it works or not. We need to see some time to comment on that.

It is really good for vbulletin community to have a free seo hack. I believe it will add more value to vBSEO in time because everybody will realize how important SEO is and they will make their switch to vBSEO at least this is what i hope

If you ask me to compare ZointsSEO vs vBSEO i cannot compare at all. One is an unsupported hack and a brand new hack , other is a well coded , supported hack which alredy proved himself with lots of success stories.

I agree, vBSEO is superior and has prooved itself fully. and it is good to finally see a free version, something which someone may take on and fix, but either way vbseo will for most stay the #1 solution for SEO on vbulletin because of support, features etc.

however im still wondering what those zoints features are that are so good that vbseo doesnt have.

Does vbseo have an option to insert keywords into url titles? I noticed it can do that, but not sure what else it can do that vbseo cant. (I know it cant do a lot thats for sure).

I don't believe that Zoints have anything better than vBSEO. What DcChapman did over there was just a marketing strategy

Absolutely...and a brilliant marketer he is! I'm sure also, that Brian of vBAdvanced has had a roll in coding this as he works for Zoints now and the Admin interface looks like his handiwork.

Price is a feature to some.

After a month or so, I may add it to one of my sites to see how it does. It's a non-profit site, so it's not like I'd be putting vBSEO on it anyway.

Open source and free is good. Hopefully a bunch of people come together to support it and/or improve it. But, based on what I've seen from vB.org over the past few years: not gonna happen!

I think it's a pretty decent piece of code for the price. It is obviously not the BEST solution for SEP, but it is A solution. I mentioned this in the pre-release forums, but I'll mention it here too...

I believe that when people try this free SEO tool by Zoints, they'll realize how helpful it is to their site. The people who realize this and who want the absolute best for their site will eventually come to VBSEO because it is in fact the best.

I've found that the Zoints team has consistently produced quality add-ons which is something you have to consider when you live by the term "you get what you pay for". It's true to a large degree, but it also depends on the integrity, quality and skill of the entity producing it.

As an aside, based on what I've heard in my private communications with David Chapman, there is a LOT to look forward to.

Again, while this

I think there is a bit of confusion surrounding the release of Zoints SEO.

1. Does Zoints do a few things better than vbSEO? Yes. It has a couple pretty cool features vBSEO doesn't. The archive navigation is one. Frankly, vbSEO is more than welcome to take a look at that code and incorporate it into vBSEO and vBSEO Lite. All I care about is forum owners having what they need at their disposal.

2. Does vBSEO do a few things better than Zoints SEO? No. It does a lot of things better than Zoints SEO.

vBSEO is a fantastic product. I'm considering installing it on MY forums and recommending it to people I know.

WHY did we release it then? I tell you what, it was one of the hardest decisions i've made in a LONG time. I didn't want to release it because:

- Zoints is not an SEO company. We did not want to support this product. To support an SEO product, you have to be active in the SEO arena. During the development of Zoints SEO I was. That stopped around one year ago.

- I have no desire to compete with vBSEO. I like the guys here at vBSEO a lot and if i'm going to compete with a company, i'm going to ensure that I do it with a better product. Not a product that is pretty good but only utilized because it is free. I believe in providing the best.

- If we were unable to strike any deal, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night sitting on the Zoints SEO script when people were using other free scripts. All I personally care about is empowering forum owners, so it just wouldn't be right for me to bury the script.

The resolution was to release Zoints SEO as an open source script. Considering a grand total of nobody has worked to improve the script and I, myself, will likely be recommending vBSEO over Zoints SEO, I think it's safe to say vBSEO doesn't have much to worry about

Can you list the functions Zoints has that vbSEO doesn't, or does, but aren't as good in your mind?

That way it makes it easier to make them feature requests
