    WordPress + vBSEO & vBulletin

I'm planning to implement WordPress onto one of my sites. This site has been up for a little over 2 years now and has only been a forum. I want WordPress to be my opening page and I'd like to move my forums to the /forums directory. So, I have some questions:

    1. Should I physically move vBulletin and vBSEO to a /forums directory within the root where WordPress will reside or should these all be in the same directory? (Although, I think there will be conflicts with WordPress and vBSEO .htaccess files)

    2. Are there any critical ramifications of doing such a move as far as SEO is concerned? I know it's not recommended to change URL schemes, but I don't think there would be a great impact if everything is properly 301 redirected.

    Cheers

You can't have both in the same folder. So, if you want wordpress in root, then yes, you must physically move your vb install to /forums.

As noted, you will need to be re-indexed, and there's no good way to 301 everything (as wordpress will cease to function if you do) either.

Ideally, you would want to rename index.php to forum.php or something thereof, make a custom index.php, and run wordpress in a folder, like /articles. You can even 99% syndicate wordpress' index file, just change some paths around. That way your forum doesn't move (only forum home)

Okay, so if I understand correctly, index.php will be at the root level with the vBulletin script (having renamed vBulletin's index to forum.php). Then, WordPress would be installed in a sub-directory of root. Sound right or am I a bit off?

Which is why I posted this thread. Plus, that would likely make things more difficult when I convert to XenForo.
