Why do the vBSEO developers hate indents and comments so much?

Question is pretty self-explanatory. In every vBSEO PHP file I looked, there are absolutely no indents, making it pretty hard to figure out where every control block starts and ends without some tool for automatic formatting. Comments are also out of the question, except the copyright comment on top.

I understand that vBSEO sells good SEO, not beautiful PHP code, so I can't really complain. But I wonder, doesn't this give a hard time to the vBSEO developers as well?

Our source is distributed in a 'slightly minified' manor to save space/reduce file size. The code you see is exported from a source control system.

But what's the point? It's not something that's going to be downloaded by the end user, it's php code that's going to run on the server. To save file size for the initial download of the files? The zip could be larger without anybody complaining I think. Or at least you could provide an alternative version for people who want to adapt the code to their needs (maybe it could also be a bit more expensive, bringing in more revenue practically without any additional effort ).
