Where are Acronyms stored?

We would like to dynamically add acronym=>link replacements, through an external script.

If it's properly formatted, can we add it without logging into the vbseo cp?

They don't appear to be stored in the database, would anyone mind pointing me in the right direction?

These are not stored in the database. They are stored in /includes/config_vbseo.php

And you can add to the array manually.
