Personally I use Xcache works fine and no problems noticed so far.

Cheers for that Marco. And now the dumb question.
Once I get my server guys to install it. How do I set it up with Vbulletin and VBSEO
Im running 3.8.1 at present. Got fed up at that stage of constantly upgrading
Just getting everything in place ready for upgrading to VB4

In vBSEO you can enable it within vBSEOCP > General settings > Caching options
    Also I have attached screen-shot

In vBulletin you will need to enable it from your config.php

Make sure vbseo_storage is set uniquely for EACH site on the server, or you will have conflicts (it can be any string).

I ran xcache for a bit and eaccelerator for a while, and right now i use nothing.
all had their flaws or faults, or just didn't want to work right with my server. And frankly, i saw little performance gain from either.
    your results may vary.

Thanks for the help. I should have replied last night, but it was a bit late here
I know I have eaccelerator on there at present. I wanted to go down the lines of what you recommended here for best performance and speed
Get the server tweaked now, rather than go down the VB4 route and wish I had done things earlier

Thats put a damper on things. This is the reply I got from my server guys

XCache is not part of the cPanel easyapache script, and as a result is a 3rd party module wich is not part of our managed services:
Looking at what is on the scripts. PHP ones, if Im looking in the right area on WHM is memcache 2.2.5
These server things scare the living what ever out of me on a good day
I have zero idea on what any of these things do. Eat memory, cpu or anything else

Memcached will not that good if you don't have a dedicated memcached server. You don't need easyapache for xcache installation. You can compile it from source pretty easy within SSH

I really wish vBSEO would add support for WinCache. It is the only cache for a Windows server that actually does a difference. And with the new 1.1 beta version, it is easy to integrate with their new API's and such...

I use vB Optimize for Vbulletin and with WinCache support and it makes a tremendous difference. I would love to see vBSEO have support for it likewise.

There is example code in the vb config file already. You need to uncomment and add in your server's values.
