    Hello Michael,

    you should submit:
    Code:
    http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_index.xml.gz

Thank you, i see i posted this in the wrong forum.

anyway i haven't got a file called that, in my root folder or my vbeo_sitemap/data folder. Also the sitemap keeps timing out when i do it over the internet.

Although files are physically stored in vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder, you can access them via forum root (this is possible with mod_rewrite rules included in .htaccess).

I got this error from google:

    General HTTP error

General HTTP error: 404 (Not found) [?]

    For this URL
    http://www.myfootballforum.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz

Have you generated sitemap? Sitemap files should be located in vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder.

Yes i've generated the sitemap BUT it timed out when i was doing it, timed out after a minute.

But these are the files i have in my vbseo_sitemap/data folder.

    downloads.dat
    sitmap.txt.gz
    sitmap_6xml.gz
    sitmap_4xml.gz
    sitmap_5xml.gz
    sitmap_1xml.gz
    sitmap_2xml.gz
    sitmap_3xml.gz
    sitmap_7xml.gz
    sitmap_8xml.gz
    sitmap_9xml.gz
    .htaccess
    index.php

When i tried to add one of those sitemaps in google, it said it was the wrong type.

You should install v1.7 of Sitemap Generator - it has "resume generation" feature implemented, so you will be able to execute generator again and it will continue until full sitemap is created.

Rewrite rules are included in default vBSEO's .htaccess, so you don't have to do anything else.

You can manually submit your sitemap files to google webmaster account for that:

    VBSEO SiteMap files

It looks like the plugin does not write the files into the forum base directiry. but into the /vbseo_sitemap/data dir.

Yes, that is correct. You can still access sitemap file via forums root sinceyou have corresponding rewrite rules in .htaccess.
