What happens if I change a forum name?

vBSEO has been on my site for years, and I want to do some cleanup and updates on some of my forum names. My threads have the seo forum name included in them. In addition, I'm sure there are links out there to the actual forums too. What happens to my threads and forums inbound urls if I change a forum name now?

If you have forum-id inside your rewrite rules , your threads will be 301 redirected . If you don't have forum-id included in your rewrite rules , you need to define custom redirect rules.

OK, so it looks like my threads will be fine... just the thread ID in the url. My forum urls won't be OK. Based on the answer of my other question though, I could just create a forum slug to fix that, right?

You would want to set up a custom redirect.
