What do you think about google's and multi page articles?

I request apologizes about my bad English. I hope you understand my doubts.

A few days ago, I saw the following article in the Official Google Webmaster Central:

It seems like google does not like multi page articles. Well, a forum like our forums, always has multipage articles.

What can we do about that? Implement the rel=”next” and rel=”prev” elements in our forums?

I don't think this is aimed much at forums. It's aimed at articles that add 5 pages simply to get the page views and the ad impressions to up their figures.
