    VBSEO Traffic

    Just a few Presales questions:
    1) We'd like to try VBSEO, but are concerned about the potential loss of traffic while the search engines re-index the new pages. I know we can have 301 redirects for instant redirection, but I've heard it may take 1-3 months for traffic to come back to pre-installation levels. In your experience, how long does it take for Google to re-index the new pages and for traffic to begin increasing?

    2) Can we enable all the other VBSEO features without enabling the URL redirects?

    3) We have a single VBulletin license with ~60 forum topics. If we wanted to activate a single forum with VBSEO URLS what would be involved? Have you done this type of custom coding before where 1 forum topic was VBSEO-enabled and the other forum topics were unchanged (old format URLs)?

    4) Does VBSEO change the meta tags for the forum pages?

    5) If we have modified robots.txt to disallow certain folders (example: /admin) , will that be a problem with VBSEO?

    Hello,

    1) there's no hard answer. it's entirely at google's descresition. I've seen some sites take a week. I've seen others take 8 months. Most fall in the 1-2 month range. It personally took me about 3 weeks to recover, and 4 weeks to double, and 5 weeks to quadrupple.

The immediate loss in traffic sucks, but it is SOOOOO worth it in the end.

I just recently posted a story here:

2)3)It is not possible with vbseo to NOT re-write urls. It is a required featured with the product. so, number 2 and 3 are your list are a no-go

    4) it has smart replacement for all pages. it will take the forum/thread title, use it in the begininng, and then back fill the left over space with the generic vB option meta info. thread titles are usually longer than forums, so its a good balance.

    5) no, vbseo encourages a robots file
