    VBSEO on test localhost

    Hello Guys,

I use vbseo rather extensively and want to know how my copy can be used on localhost so that our programmers can do all the testing locally before uploading on the production server.

So Crawlability dudes.. how do I go about this ? Anything I need to take care of, or get a special code or something to do localhost testing etc ?

    You can do the following:
    1. Define a virtual domain at your local IP (i.e. 127.0.0.1 >> sitename.com)
    2. Enter your license key as provided for your licensed domain (sitename.com)
    3. Access your forums via "sitename.com" in your localhost
    vBSEO should work properly.

    Cheers!

But this does not allow me to access both my localhost machine and the live website at the same time since they both use the same sitename.com .. Any other way to do this that will allow me to work on both the test localhost and the live website at the same time.

A workaround is to link "sitename.com" to your local IP and define the vBulletin URL in your local admin CP as mysite.com (without the "www."). In this case, you will access your local copy at sitename.com and www.mysite.com to access your live site.

Easier still... we'll register mysitetest.com in the registration dB so that you can go ahead and create a virtual domain (mysitetest.com) on your local machine - You'll be able to retrieve the key automatically (if connected to the net) or we can generate one for you manually. Please submit a support ticket for this.

    Hello,
I am trying to test locally the upgrade from 3.0 RC8 to 3.0 before applying it in my website.
I have modified my hosts file to associate 127.0.0.1 to mysitename.com and to mysitenametest.com . But it still does not working.
    Any help please.

I do not have an error. I just have url not rewritten. I have VB standard urls. In forums/vbseocp.php the licence key does not appear in Red, but it is unregistered.

Please open a support ticket with your testing URL so that we can assign it to your license.
