Sorry to hear. Reality is, other times we've had complaints for the exact opposite reason, people not receiving notifications far in advance, or enough reminders.

I'm hoping we can change your appreciation of vbseo.com products moving forward.

Not spam?? I'm not even one of your customers. Until right now, i've never even been registered at your forum. I registered specifically to voice my concerns.

I'm getting emails to my domain that have a nonexistent address. The only reason I get them at all is because I have catch all enabled on my inbox. I responded to a couple of your emails, and I was given an automated response that says my email address isn't in your records, and only those emails make it to you. If it's not in your records, why are you emailing me?

I'm getting emails sent to addresses that don't even exist on my domain... as far as i'm concerned, that's spam.

I know one thing, you'll never see a dollar from me.

Our dB is built exclusively upon:

    • vBSEO.com registrations
    • Newsletter opt-ins
    • Demo registrations
    • vBHackers.com registrations

Dunno how your non-existent emails made it to our dB, please feel free to email sales@crawlability.com with a list of emails that you wish removed form the mailing list.

Actually, the email titled "Early Bird Promo (VBSEO_MAX_SEO_EARLYBIRD) Extended 1hr" had no unsubscribe link.

I'd also like you to know i've blacklisted you also.

I'd rather my useraccount were to be deleted than have to unsubscribe. thanks.

    @darksky

Actually, the "Early Bird Promo" and all previous sales to this weekend's sale were not orchestrated by me. We have an updated philosophy now, and I would like to personally request the opportunity to prove that we are not only listening to our users requests, but *acting* upon them.

regardless of the situation, i want to say thank you to the staff for taking the time to at least respond and at least reconsider the way business is done.

I am hearing that less email will be sent, then to hear 'we will also mail out regarding version 4 and vbseo' .. just means it will continue as is, just a different subject line.

I understand you do business your way and not everybody agrees with it. I just happen to be one of those that don't agree. I am afraid I am not going to remove the filter.

but thank you for allowing us to share our feedback/experience and for replying. not everybody company does that.

    It's a double edged sword...

If we send emails, people complain we are spamming.
If we don't, we get complaints that people missed the sale because they didn't know about it. In fact, we STILL got complaints from this sale that they missed it.

There is a medium somewhere, and we will discuss internally to find where this is next time around.

    Excellent!
That said... You guys have spammed me to no end with one sale, one product. For this reason, I don't ever plan on buying anything from you.
Dramatic much? Its not that much of spam. Jesus. I recieved only 5 e-mails from them. I'm not bothered.

Honestly, as a owner of a corporation. I wouldn't want customers like you because instead of buying a product based on what YOU like, you wait for a opportune time to bail out. Customers like that don't deserve the attention of companies like crawlabilty. I'm sorry. That's just wrong.

Some customers like the ones during the 3.3.0 release were some of the best; some of them were new customers [and probably those new customers who waited for a major update/price drop] they had to put up with heavy e-mail advertising - but its because crawlability is GIVING them chances to get in on the price cut fun! And that's what they were trying to do in this release. Give customers a chance to get into the "countdown" fun.

You, Jamie waited for a perfect time to buy a vbSEO product; yet like I said, you bailed out. For what? Just 5 e-mails? Dramatic.
If you consider this as a good way to get the word out then you are sadly wrong. Also, the comment from you guys about how you "learned" from your mistake.. you are not new with the web and email campaigns. Whoever set up this campaign knowing that it would send out as many emails as it did needs to really look at what it has cost you.
Well, lookie here. IT IS a great way of getting more sales. During the 3.3.0 sale, I bought another vbSEO license. I wanted in the countdown fun. I wanted to take advantage of the offer they gave the community. And during the 3.3.0 release, it made them more money. So, setting a trend, they keep doing it.

    Smart move.

I found it acceptable because they don't e-mail you every day. There's a huge gap between updates for vbSEO community, products, and upgrades. I see a lot of PR companies, e-mailing EVERY SINGLE small announcement, so you guys are responding to this way harshly. I see a lot of e-mails from PR companies every week. This "spam" countdown is weaksauce compared to what I get.

    This is nothing.

People like this... are the wrong type of customers for vbSEO. So, honestly, keep doing what you're doing, crawlability... you need to choose what traffic you want, and what kind of customers you want. Otherwise you're going to be up against a wall of lost opportunity.

I've closed the thread as I suspect this will go south from this point on.

We are already discussing alternatives, including segmenting mail subscriptions per area, such as sales, product updates, company updates, etc.

    Thank-you all for your feedback.
