vbseo performance : which php cache ?

    Hello,

Since we installed vbSEO on our site, the load on our server increased a lot. We were using one big server with Apache 2.2.9 + PHP 5.2.6 + XCache 1.2.2, and now we use two servers with Lighttpd + PHP + XCache.

I would like to know if we can have less load by using :
    - APC instead of XCache
    - eAccelerator instead of XCache
    - Zend Platform

Do people have experience switching to one of those three instead of XCache and getting performance improvement with vbSEO ?

    Thanks.

Memcached is better if you have a seperate memcached server. If not you should stick with xCache as i had very good perfonmance with Lighttpd , xCache.

Okay thank you both for your answers. I should have added that I also run a memcached server for vbulletin datastore (vbseo datastore is in XCache). This is because I still run vBulletin 3.6.x that does not offer datastore in XCache yet, but we will upgrade soon and put everything in XCache.

I am still using apache. My server is AWESOME, so loads are less otherwise load would be high.

Xcache is best right now. Use it.

And lighttpd, never used. I was trying nginx but failed to get it compiled with php.

You should try Lighttpd. You'll see at least 30% perfonmance increase on your server.

Do shared host have xcache enabled or do avoid this?
Mine has eAccelerator, but disabled eaccelerator_put and eaccelerator_get. They say it's to avoid attacks.

So, is this useful for use?

I have eAccelerator installed on my VPS, however when I go into vbseo configuration, it also lists unsupported infront of the eAccelerator. Any idea why?

You have to compile ea with shared memory support.

After going through Biransol's experience with xcache and hearing bad things from others as well, I am a bit hesitant about it, not to mention that my host isn't hot for the idea of installing it though I know if I ask them, they will install and support it but the last thing I want is downtime.

So considering this and the fact that I don't want to enable eAccelerator_get and eAccelerator_put functions, I am thinking of going with APC. What you guys think about it and how well does it performs and how much memory would you allocate to it for a VPS with 448MB of RAM?
