vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator v.1.6.1
For vBulletin 3.5.x (Plugin) & vBulletin 3.0.x
Does this work with vB 3.6.1??
You should download 1.7 here: http://www.vbseo.com/downloads/
How do I make sure, or GET the generator to save the files to my web root instead of vbseo_sitemap/data.
Doesn't Google require them to be saved to the highest level. Otherwise it won't crawl above vbseo_sitemap/data.
Please advise.
Also, when trying to add my sitemap to Googles webmaster tools. It is asking for one file. Which one do I enter?
Maybe I don't need to add the file to Google's webmaster tools because the log for the generator says that Googlebot downloaded them already. I am still unsure they are saved in the correct location.
For Yahoo, should I enter the absolute path to the file "urllist.txt.gz"
www.domain.com/vbseo_sitemap/data/urllist.txt.gz
Are these locations being rewritten to appear to be in the root?
"When Google spiders the old url's, it gets 301'ed to the new url's so the old url's re removed from Google. Include this option until you note that most old url's have gone from Google."
What does this mean? WHAT old urls? I have had vbseo on for a while and am just adding the sitemap generator. What should I choose here? I believe Google has had plenty of time to cap all of my vbseo URLs.
What is the difference between sitemap_index and sitemap_1?
Why does Googlebot need both of these.
Is there a reason to use the vb archive if I am using the vbseo sitemap generator?

Hello,
although files are stored in vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder, you still should access them via forums root folder:
http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_index.xml.gz
http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_1.xml.gz
The ULR for yahoo sitemap is: http://yourforumsroot/urllist.txt.gz
sitemap_index contains the list of all your sitemap files, while sitemap_1(2,3 etc) contain the URLs.

So which one of these would I submit to google on the Webmaster Tools page? The url file, or the index file?
http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_index.xml.gz
http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_1.xml.gz
You can submit all sitemap files to see their status and make sure they are parsed correctly.
