    Thumbs up vBSEO Conditional Signatures

    We are launching a new plugin for vB 3.5 to be freely distributed on vbulletin.org called "vBSEO Conditional Signatures".

    Depending on your settings, this plugin will either (1) add rel=nofollow to links in signatures OR (2) remove signatures conditioned to the length of individual posts. Note: These actions only occur when the # of words in the post is less than the minimum you specify.

    This is intended to prevent users who post very short messages from affecting your SEO with their signatures. Of course, members who post messages that meet the minimum word count will have their signatures displayed without changes.

    The SEO result is that you will:
    • Conserve PageRank (with rel=nofollow) OR (with signature removal)
    • Maintain a higher density of keywords relevant to the thread topic
    • Prevent sigs from interrupting the flow of the discussion
    I would like your help in deciding on a suitable # of words to set as the default minimum for the plugin. Download it here:

    Just an idea.

    Has for words it really depends... possibly set it up by usergroups because my moderators and most of my supporting members have links to sites that I do not mind search engines going after and it would be a lot easier to allow certain usergroups than manually entering each userid.

    I have my word set at 150 by the way

    Excellent additions, it was getting complicated having to add my staff members to the "Exclude User ID" list all the time. BTW do you think it could be possible for Usergroup IDs to be seperate by commas instead of a space? Just follows with the conventions by the rest of the vBulletin system ... had me caught out for about 5 minutes wondering why the "Exclude Usergroup ID" feature wasnt working. Finally realised that i had seperated my IDs with commas instead of spaces.

    Maybe it'd be a good idea to also only allow 1 signature per user per page, to cut page size down (i.e. if user posts 3 times on one page it only shows their signature on the first)
