Take note all users running the VBET Translate MOD!!!

vBSEO, i agree with your stance on this, but people gotta know how bad this mod is! Please dont delete this.

Please forward this onto anyone you know running this mod, its a real eyeopener.

I like to try new things and make my own mind up, people told me this mod was bad, but i like to see for myself, the results are pretty big. Do you want some quick traffic fix or do you value the long term health of your forum!?

Ive run this mod since it started, yes it does bring traffic but it kills servers and has many other bugs, deformed pages, broken links to name a few. Just look at Google and Bing caches of your pages and in webmaster tools, many, many errors.

Here is my server load after uninstalling VBET, the changes are dramatic. The server is a 32 core AMD with 8gigabytes of RAM and 4 SCSI 15k drives in RAID 10, a real powerhouse.

The only thing I have done is uninstall VBET completely, not just disable in vB admincp, as this still leaves the product installed due to all the custom file edits.

And here is Google webmaster tools reports for user page speed (data is delayed, still dropping) and crawler page speed, the results are dramatic. We're talking a up to a 10th of what it was, so 10 seconds load times down to 2! 700ms page crawl times down to 75ms.

So all you people like me whom like extra traffic, make sure you getting that and not trading foreign language traffic and upsetting all your native speakers in the process with bad load times and deformed pages, broken links and also annoying Google and getting less native traffic than before installing. Seriously, I cannot emphasize how much this mod hurts your site.

Take note VBET, you are doing nothing but harming vBulletin users and making money from it!

I use vbet on my small forum vb 4.0 it's not created any problem yet. But traffic is not much. I think you can tweak it by cache usage and do some other vbulletin optimizations. And i would do the same if one day it come to a point crashing. Can i ask how many daily visits do you get?

Well feel free to post your google webmaster stats, id love to see them, otherwise I and probably others will ignore your analysis. Please backup your claims.

" I think you can tweak it by cache usage and do some other vbulletin optimizations"

You cant, it is what it is, bad code and slow. Ive been a webmaster 10 years and I cant make it fast. That still doesnt explain the mega bugs.

As a member of vbseo seo is clearly in your interest, so why you would muck up all your hard work installing this is bizarre, good luck lol.

Even when you show people the facts, they still want to think any traffic is the answer.

Stop searching for ANY traffic, you want traffic that CONVERTS.

Foreign traffic doesnt convert, on top of that it is making you server so slow you native traffic is going away, lose lose. Ive tested this on a 30,000 uniques a day form.

I'm right, ive seen it with my own eyes, my forum has never been busier since, posts and threads are up 500%

I get 150-250 visits a day bytheway. You can check my stats online here ÑтатиÑтика Ñайта "webmaster forums". And i have 15k unique another webmaster forum called webmastersitesi. I had a plan to test on it but i think i'll not Thanks to you. I am more certain now.

Usually I am eager to test everything and I am 12 years webmaster experience btw. I fully agree with you about we need converting traffic. Faster sites are better. Translation quality right now is not that good on google. Because i hope it'll be better in the future. I have long term plans for ws project. i gave it a chance, it's still under test period for me. Also before i use on a bigger forum, i test it on small one to remove see potential risks.

I believe you Dave thank you.

I am currently using vBET, and it was not cheap. Is there anyway to uninstall this mod and just insert the google translator widget to the forum instead? (I have this widget on my home page, which is not vbulletin.)

I have tons of readers from other countries but since the install of vBET about 6 months ago I have only had two users post in their language. A total of two times.

Will I need to actually uninstall this mod? I cannot just disable the product?

I added the google translator to the header advertising and it works about a million times faster anyway.

If you don't plan to use it anymore, there's no sense in keeping the 20x database size that it creates.

This may sound like a dumb question, but I have not needed to uninstall a mod yet. So I uninstalled this mod and I am left with this. How do I get rid of it???

    Hello Lisa,

Seems that you still need to delete the cpnav_vbet.xml (or so) file related to that modification in your includes/xml/ folder.
