Sudden loss of 92% of my indexed pages at Google?

I installed VBSEO a few weeks ago and have been patiently watching the results. My indexed pages have been slowly growing and reached 6700 as of today. Not great considering I had much more before but I know with VBSEO installed and disabling archived pages, etc that there would be fewer indexed pages with the hopes of higher rankings and relevancy.

I just checked and my indexed pages have dropped to 566. Is this normal? Seemed like I was making slow and steady progress with the amount of indexed pages then this happens.

You old pages will be updated with the new ones, so it is typical to see the index page count drop.

However is your search traffic? Has that increase, stayed the same, or dropped similar to the index pages?

    Hello ,

Drop in indexed number pages are always expected within first installation of vBSEO as default vBulletin installations has tons of duplicate content. With vBSEO your site will be properly indexed. Also site:domain.com query is not accurate for a long time. For better stats tracking i advise you to track your site stats via an Analystics program such as Google Analytics. This way you can track your incoming referral numbers daily. You can also choose to install Livestats for better stat tracking.

Thanks guys. I checked to day and the number of indexed pages is backed to 6700. If google indexes all of the pages on my sitemaps, I should have around 140,000 pages listed.

BTW Brian, I sent you an email a few days ago. Are you back up and running?
