Strange Google analytics reports change after upgrading 3.5RC3 to gold

Last week we upgraded our VBSEO from 3.5RC3 to gold version. After this upgrade (all settings still the same) we see very different Google Analytics results.

- We have a 10% increase in visitors altought our secondary measurement system doesn't show this increase
- new visitors increased with 150%
- returning visitors decreased with 40%
- we see an almost doubling of the direct traffic to our site

These data doesn't make any sense to us an nothing changed except the upgrade of VBSEO.

Any idea's on what could have caused this ?

We use VBulletin 3.8.4 and have around 70K visitors a day.

You may want to ask this question to Google Analytics support. What vBSEO does is only adding Analytics code to your pages. Stats are all handled by Google Analytics and vBSEO has no effect on that.

The Google Analytics code is being called by VBSEO. We only give our account number in the settings and VBSEO handles the rest. Since we have seen this changes since the upgrade to Gold version I can only assume something has changed in the way VBSEO calls the analytics code in the gold version versus the R3.

vBSEO only adds needed Analytics code to your site. All tracking is done by Google Analytics , not vBSEO. There has been no change on Analytics code in vBSEO between vBSEO 3.5.0 Rc3 abd Gold.

Make sure you're not calling it elsewhere, like in a footer template, etc.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am having the exact same issue.

Could the issue possibly be that the analytics code is already in the header? Since vbseo is now loading it as well I removed it, I guess we will see if that is the issue.

Make sure you only have 1 code instance per page. If you use the vbseo integration, you shouldn't have any template edits, etc with GA installed on it.
