    Spidering members forums

    Hi

I would like to know if it is possible to have google spider forums that are not available to guests? Essentially I want to only let members (free registration) read the forums, but I DO want google and other search engines to be able to index them.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

    Regards,

    John

P.S. As an aside, I had two support tickets last night and had the fastest response I have ever had from any support. Keep it up guys!

That is possible with hacks that are available on vbulletin.org, but it is not recommended since you aren't supposed to show search engines anything that guests can't see.

I suppose that is true, but I'm not sure what to do then. As it is about70% of all registered members do not post anything at all, and if they can read everything without registering, I worry that it will in turn result in next to no registrations.

    Advice?

    Thanks,

    John

Well, as you may have noticed, I have decided to go for allowing guests to read the forum but not post. Hopefully this will be a better option long term, but we will see.

    Thanks for the help guys.
