Sitemap: How long does it take to appear in Google?

How long does it take to see the sitemap in the Google Search results?

I have installed vBSEO since 3 days and generated 2 sitemap files so far...but they do not appear in Google. Does it take a while?

It can take weeks or months. Google is Google...

You mean the sitemap generated by vbSEO_sitemap which you add to google webmaster, or the sitemap rewrite of the standard vbulletin archive?

I have vBSEO on my Server and it generates a report every day which shoews how many links were added.

I didnt copy any file to Google...do I have to do something like this or is this done automatically?

For best results, set up a Google Webmaster account and add your sitemap in there.

I have uploaded the files sitemap_1.xml and sitemap_index.xml and in the google webmaster tool I have pointed to sitemap_index.xml

The Sitemap must be located at Game Servers, Game Server Hosting, Voice Server Hosting, Teamspeak, CSS Hosting by Invision Gaming. To add a Sitemap at Invision Gaming Forums - Powered by vBulletin, first add that site to your account and then click the Add a Sitemap link beside it.

Am I suposed to add /forums as site? That seems weird? They are the same site?

How do I submit the sitemap.

You need to submit the highest level folder that you have files in.

For most sites, that is / , rather than /forums.

The .htaccess file makes the files appear to be in the root.
