    Site Sections Display in Google

    Hi there,

Why do some sites, when they are displayed in Google, have links to their major sections? For example:

    vbulletin - Google Search

Note the links to "Download", "Forums", "Features", "Admin Demo", etc. Is there a convenient way for me to get these sections added to my site's results in Google?

They tend to be high traffic, authority sites within a particular niche or for a particular keyword. It would be very difficult to optimize your site to get these.

If you want them, make sure you have a focused niche, and you keep building your traffic over time.

google adds them when they see your site fit. There's nothing you can do to get them, other than make a killer site

I have read that Google factors in a few things, including how long the site has been online and navigation structure. One thing I have noticed with all sites that get this listing is they all have sections laid out above the fold. So for example, in Google have a look at this site (vbseo) vbseo - Google Search and then at vbulletin.org vbulletin.org - Google Search

Now compare those listings to the actual site's navigation. You will see that they have well formed navigation on the top of their sites and Google really takes to it.

My site has only been online since August but since installing vbseo it's picking up, I have also installed anchored tabs as well, which will make it easy for Google to pick it up. Example here PoliticalGroove Home For a simple tutorial on how to install the tabs see here Tabs at top of this site - vBulletin.org Forum they both look good and serve an important purpose for your site.

Well structured navigation should be a goal for everyone, even if this Google search feature did not exist.

I'm not quite sure well formed navigation (above the fold) is what makes it happen. It's probably what *allows* it to happen, after they have selected your site to feature in such a way (due to other factors).
