Question Site name question

I have a site: Guinea Pig Cages, Your Cavy At Home ( cavycages.com) with a very active forum. I've had this site for many years (since 2001) and it is one of the premiere sites for guinea pigs.

I initially decided to call it cavy instead of guinea pigs because it was short, more alliterate and just easier to handle for those in the guinea pig world (guinea pigs are called cavies).

I also own guineapigcages.com (have a domain forward pointing to cavycages.com (or will shortly, moved servers, broke it for a bit).

I also own Guinea Pig Info You Can Rely On ( guineapigs.info) and find that even though this is a small site, it gets great ranking on google and the google ad revenue is practically as good or better as my very established and well-trafficked site.

I plan on adding vbSEO to my cages forum (Cavy Cages Forum) shortly.

I'm wondering if I should consider changing the main website url over to guineapigcages.com and make cavycages.com forward to that instead.

I'm assuming that I would get better SE placement.

Re: Site name question

it really depends on your users. Me, i never heard of "cavy" until i read this thread, and if i was looking for info on guinea pigs, i would search for "guinea pig ________". Maybe your users are more savvy about the animal than I am though.

If this is the case, i'd suggest changing it. using the htaccess file, you can 301 all your traffic to the new domain.
