Is single post good for search engines to index? If not how can I stop them from indexing them posts like this /12175-post1.html |

don't re-write them, and then block showpost.php in robots.txt i went as far as to remove showpost.php from my server. |

expand out your re-writ options with the PLUS(+) to get the full options. find the one for 'rewrite showpost?' set to no. add Disallow: /forumpath/showpost.php to your robots.txt file, obviously replacing /forumpath with yours (or nothing if in root) And, so long as you are using the permalinks option (as here on vbseo, ie Single post question ) the showpost file itself does nothing, so i deleted it from my server. |

Thanks for the help K.. Thanks I removed from my server which should solve the problem but I get this error when I try to view single posts now Warning: main(/homepages/23/d214103588/htdocs/showpost.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/23/d214103588/htdocs/vbseo.php on line 1129 Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/homepages/23/d214103588/htdocs/showpost.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php') in /homepages/23/d214103588/htdocs/vbseo.php on line 1129 is this okay? and will spiders now stop crawling them |

you need to also select the option for PERMALINKS instead of showpost. Permalinks Forum Permalinks - Replace post number link with permalink |

seems to be working now. I put it back on my server and selected the option you suggested. Thanks a lot |

Brian so I take it your saying its good to get rid of single posts from the index? Does this cause I problem when used with the sitemap addon?

yes. Showpost is duplicate content. Theres an option in the sitemap settings to not include showpost url's as well to go along with this |

Sorry for some reason my eyes were malfunctioning when I set those settings up. Oh well its removed now, cheers |
