No this is not a bug. vBSEO doesn't control post title length. vBulletin have a setting , if your users are creating long post title's you should consider enabling that limit and set it to a lower number then twitter character limit.

Using short url services require api keys on an account basis (ie, the person clicking the share button, not the board).

I noticed this too. Basically the Thread title has to be super small in order to use the Twitter function under the Share link. Any way to use the code from a Twitter button that automatically shortens URL as the feature for the Twitter link under Share.

Just to clarify a bit. The share for Twitter link is too long because the URL is long, not because the title is too long.

Same concept applies. using a service like bitly is needed for that of the member clicking on the twitter url to share to THEIR profile. a board setting hooking into an api wouldn't matter.

If twitter is a major service in your niche, you may wish to switch your urls to ID only, ie, site.com/t123/ so that it will fit. Otherwise, twitter is a fad IMO and I wouldn't change my board for their stupid character rule.

I see, not a huge deal. But, what would be the easiest way to switch my URL's to ID only without breaking them?

Any switch will 'break' them. But, vbseo will 301 based on the id in the url.

How about when I go to update vBulletin or vBSEO, will the 301 redirect settings stay, or do they need to be redone?

it is done on the fly real-time based on the threadID in the url. So long as that doesn't change, vbseo will redirect it to its correct url.

Is there a tutorial on how to set this up?
