    Setting Up A CDN

    Hi,

I just signed up with an account on MaxCDN and I was wondering if anyone could give me a high-level view of how to set up my first pull zone. Like for instance, I am a bit confused on whether I need to setup each origin URL to be very specific (ie /forums/clear.gif) or broad (root) and define the granularity later on. Do I just need one push zone or multiple?

So to get started, how would you fill this out:

    Pull Zone Name:
    Origin Server URL:
    Custom CDN Domain:
    Label:

I would use a custom CDN domain, like cdn1.mydomain.com, creating a CNAME record to point to what the record is on MaxCDN. Would I then login to my vBSEO CP and type in my CNAME record and I'd be good to go?

Sorry if this is confusing or a very simple question. I just want to make sure I am serving my content optimally before pulling the trigger on anything and I'd greatly appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

orgin url should be your main .com, or a subdomain that you create to handle the pull, ie, http://cdn-source.site.com if you wish to have further control (specific cache times for static items, etc)

You then do as you suggest and put, say, cdn.mydomain.com in the CP with it's CNAME pointed towards your cdn account name.

Cool, thanks for the help Brian. I set this up on Sunday thanks to your help, still have a few key files I need to ensure are getting pulled from CDN, but I am noticing an improvement.

Thanks again, you always give great help!

do they work if you load them manually in a browser,
    ie

    cdn.domain.com/images/buttons/search.png

if not, your cname isn't set up correctly.

No, I get "internal server error"

Edit: Seems to be working now, needed a dot on the end of the cname
