set vbseo for forums or front page?

my current setup searches the forums front page
example.com/forums

however, i have a vba cmps front page setup on the root of the domain

example.com

looking at both pages, example.com has about 10,000 words yet the forums front page example.com/forums has only about 1,000 words...

should i change my setting to search the front page example.com instead of example.com/forums?

will this bring me more search engine results and traffic?

thanks for your time.

Are you talking about the Sitemap Generator?

Assuming you are, I prefer to submit the root of the domain.

So many people just submit the /forums part.

The remainder of this post is 'of my understanding', so I really hope it's accurate.

This results in the sitemap ignoring any pages above the /forum directory, including the home page. Either they don't understand what they are excluding, don't care about the exclusion, or they really only want /forums in that sitemap.

Submitting the root of the domain results in that sitemap being valid for ALL pages in the domain, ie: anything you choose to add to the sitemap will be valid, I don't mean that all your private pages etc will be indexed.

I only sound unclear because I was (and still am) unclear as to what you are talking about.

"my current setup searches the forum front page"

What exactly do you have 'setup' to 'search your forum front page'? Or, can you rephrase your question?
