I was directed here from this thread: How to remove forum.php

and had one more question, sorry.

I did understand that replacing 'forum' with 'index' (- the '' of course) will remove forum.php from the url. My question however is does this not possibly create duplicate content issues as url's are still reachable by sitename.com/forum/forum.php/... and sitename.com/forum/...

You can also find url's via sitename.com/forum/index.php/...

Keep in mind I may be a bit out to lunch on my understanding of duplicate content and how it's found. This was just something I noticed when messing around in the address bar.

    Thanks.

    Ken

The homepage settings perform redirects to the end result page. it can only be accessed 1 way.

Sorry for reopen the post, but.... we should be carefull when updating the forum. You may be go crazy ".htaccess is ok..... vbseo options are ok...... everything its ok........ then what's wrong?"..........

    this step:
    Remove forum/forum.php from Breadcrumb

You have to change "index.php" another time...... 03:25 and awake because of this ¬¬

Thank you for your contribution, Diego!

As a reminder, I've posted a quick note on our spanish version of this thread. See for details: Como mostrar el CMS en el directorio raíz del dominio, y el foro en una carpeta independiente

This is a working solution. Double check all the steps as you may have missed one.
