Question regarding Linkbacks and private forums on another server.

Hey all, I hope someone can answer this query for me.

A rival forum has claimed our server's IP is viewing their private threads in a hidden staff area (Another VB forum)

My forum runs VBSeo with the linkback system running

If they posted a link to my forum on their private threads and someone clicks said link, would our IP then show up on their Who's online list as viewing the original (private) referring thread?

Yes, but they should also see the stop sign (as the title bot will simply see the login screen)

Hmm, well they're claiming it doesn't show the no permission stop sign.

"Finding 'guests' on our staff forum that can see past the 'you do not have permission' notice and read threads is not encouraging, especially when the ip address they show resolves to your server"

It can't read threads. the CURL bot that goes out and grabs titles on links, etc do not support cookies or login sessions, and thus will never see the real content unless it is open to guests.
