Problem with special characters in URL

Hi to everyone! I'm a new happy user of VBSEO and I just finished the installation. While testing if everything was working fine, I noticed a problem with special characters and the URLs of my forum.

I selected the "Replace Non-English Characters in URLs" option and it's working well for other special accents like 'é' becoming 'e', but somehow the letter 'ŕ' simply disappears from the URL instead of becoming 'a', which is very confusing.

I tried to add a custom replacement for 'ŕ' using the ASCII table but it doesn't seem to solve the problem.

Could you point me in the right direction?

Hello Phil, let me welcoming you to vBSEO! .

You shouldn't define that character replacement because vBSEO takes care of it by default. The issue you are facing is directly related to an 'Stop Word' defined by default with your vBSEO configuration. Let me explain a bit more:

Let's suppose you have a thread titled "Aujourd'hui je va ŕ l'ecolé."; you will note that the letter 'ŕ' it's completely alone. In english SEO that kind of phrases are handled as "stop words". Since the 'ŕ' character will be replaced for a sample 'a', it will automatically be ommited from URLs because there are a stop word defined by default with your vBSEO config. You may delete it by going to:

vBSEO CP -> SEO Functions -> Stopword Filtering -> Define Stopwords

Once done, you'll see again the 'ŕ' character being added to your URLs.

    Salutations! .
