Pings failing (Sitemap Generator)

Hi,

since a couple of weeks I notice failing pings, mainly Yahoo. That used to happen every now and then and didn't worry or bother much. But since app. 2 weeks I have constantly failing pings for Bing and Yahoo. In the meantime I updated to 3.0 PL1 but it's still the same. I haven't changed any settings since almost I year I'd estimate.

Any ideas what the reason could be, and is that something where I should react or is that not that essential and I can let it run...?

You should contact your host make sure they are not blocking any outgoing pings.

No they don't, incoming and outgoing pings work fine. And nothing has been changed, neither the server or it's settings nor any of the plugin settings. It was working fine until like one or two weeks ago (need to check the reports to tell you the right date, I am at work at the moment ;-)). Any more ideas?

All pings are working correct on all my forums , maybe it is a temporary issue. Can you please check to see if this is an ongoing issue or a temporary issue.

Sorry to say, but the problem is still there. It started on April 19th, and I really have no idea why as nothing has been changed. The Yahoo ping works from time to time, Bing doesn't work since that date anymore: this is my today's report email:

Any idea where to start to locate the issue?

I've also noticed no issues.

I would start at your host. It's possible they made a change to a router/firewall/etc that blocked a port or ip

Hi, I have to come back to that issue. I contacted my host as you suggested, they checked the matter and assured that nothing has been changed, no ports or routers or any similar settings.

Bing is still failing constantly every day, Yahoo works again. Any other ideas what could cause this mistake? Thanks a lot!

Good for you , but that doesn't help me ;-). In the meantime my site fell on bing.com from #1 to #4. I don't think the pings are responsible but maybe there is a connection.

My question is after a change of my server can be excluded as the troublemaker, does anybody have an idea how and where else I can try to locate the cause for the failing pings?

The script works, the services are up. Somewhere between your server and the service, there is a problem. If your host can't identify it, I'm not sure where else to point you for help.

The problem is still unsolved, looks like no-one can help me :(. What could be possible negative effects of that ping not working anymore pls?

Many non-US people are saying the same thing about bing failing. It's possible that they are not accepting international traffic right now. I haven't found any statement saying anything about it.

I can confirm that the Bing ping is still failing. Also confirmed at hosting company that nothing was blocked.
